Does Purchasing Used PC Projectors Make Sense?

The ability to purchase reconditioned or used PC projectors is more commonplace than just a few years ago. If you are considering the purchase of one or more used PC projectors, there are a few things to keep in mind before you commit to any deal.

First, it is imperative to know the condition of any used PC projectors you are thinking of purchasing. If at all possible, see the projector in action before you express any real interest. You want to make sure the resolution is still good on the image, and that the projector will work with the operating systems that are used on your office computers. If the used PC projectors meet those basic requirements, then it is time to do some research.

Once you know the make and model of the PC projectors you are planning to buy, spend some time checking consumer reports on the unit. Specifically, you want to now if everything tends to begin wearing out a few years after the model rolls off the assembly line. Also, getting an idea of the price for new parts is wise. Generally, there is not much of a chance of getting a service contract on used PC projectors, so you want to have a reasonable expectation of getting your money's worth from the machine before it begins to fail.

Last, compare the cost of used PC projectors to getting a new one that would also work with your computer systems. Unless there is a large difference between the two, you may find that it is more cost effective to invest in new PC projectors rather than save a few dollars up front by purchasing used models. Consider both purchase price and at least two years cost for service contracts. If the used models still look like the best bet, then move forward with your purchase.
